Questions, answered properly
The answers below are the ones our caseworkers give in writing. If yours isn't here, message us — a person answers, free, either way.
Questions
The things people ask before they start
-
Which TIE does this cover?
The card issued under the UK–EU Withdrawal Agreement — the one British residents got after Brexit, usually valid five years. If your card is a student card, a general residence card or something else, this isn't the right service and we'll tell you so before you pay rather than after.
-
When can I renew?
From 30 days before your card expires until 90 days after. Photograph your card and we'll tell you immediately where you are in that window. Outside it we don't refuse you — we look at your case properly, because late renewals are usually fixable and always worse handled by a machine.
-
What do I get at the end?
Renewing a temporary Withdrawal Agreement card produces a card valid 10 years, showing your residence status as Permanent. If your current card is already permanent, it's renewed for another 10 years.
-
Do I still have to go in person?
Yes. Fingerprints are taken at the appointment and there is no remote route — that's the law, not a limitation of our service. What we remove is everything either side of it: the form, the tasa, the appointment hunt, and the risk of being turned away over a detail.
-
What is the 790-012 tasa?
The state fee for the card, currently €12. It goes to the Tesoro Público, not to us, and we never mark it up. We generate it, pay it and give you the receipt to take to your appointment.
-
My passport has expired. Is that a problem?
Not necessarily. The guidance allows an expired passport together with evidence that you've applied to renew it. Upload both and we'll carry on. We'd rather work with the documents you actually have than send you away.
-
Do I need a padrón?
Only if your address has changed since your current card was issued — and then it must have been issued within the last three months. If nothing has moved, we don't ask for one. Uploading it anyway is the fastest way for us to fill in your address.
-
What about the photograph?
You need one physical colour photo for the appointment: 32 × 26 mm, plain white background, recent, facing forward. Any photo booth or photographer in Spain knows the DNI specification. We remind you before the day.
-
How long does the whole thing take?
Your part is about five minutes. Ours depends entirely on appointment availability at your Jefatura, which varies from days to several weeks. We tell you honestly where you are rather than inventing a date.
-
What if you can't get me an appointment?
You don't pay us. We refund our fee in full and return anything we advanced for the tasa. That's the mistake that would be ours, so it's the one we cover.
-
What happens to my passport and TIE images?
They're stored in encrypted private storage, readable only by you and the person handling your application, and deleted on the retention schedule in our privacy policy. They are never sold, never used for advertising and never used to train a model.
-
Can you renew my whole family?
Each person needs their own application, because each one is their own file at the Police. You can run them from the same account, and we'll keep the appointments together at the same office where availability allows.
-
Do you do other Extranjería paperwork?
Not on this site yet. We deliberately do one flow properly rather than six badly. If you need something else, tell us and we'll either point you somewhere honest or let you know when we cover it.
-
Who exactly are you?
Hola Money SL, a private Spanish company — CIF B26671347, registered at Calle Granada 7, 04820 Vélez-Rubio, Almería, España. We prepare paperwork and book appointments. We are not a government body and not affiliated with one.
Photograph your card. We'll take it from there.
